Park Güell was originally a private housing project which was the idea of Eusebi Güell who appointed Antoni Gaudi to run this project. By 1926, the park was officially opened to the public and by 1984 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Park Güell is on the Carmel Hills in Barcelona, located in between the districts of Gracia and Horta-Guinardó. It is in the neighborhood of El Carmel, Vallcarca I els Penitents, La Salut, El Coll, and Can Baró. It is spread across the two hills of Les Menes and El Carmel. 17 hectares of green scenery space surrounded by urban regions is all set to welcome you. It is best explored on foot and with plenty of time to spare.

There is a dedicated metro line that allows you to get off at two stops that will leave you near the park. To do this, you must take the famous green or L3 line. If you want, you can alight at Lesseps, which is the first station. From there, it will take about 20 minutes to walk to the park.
Instead, you can get off at the Vallcarca stop. The travel time from there will be about the same. With both stops, you will be able to access several escalators that will make your journey easier. Therefore, the metro is a fast and comfortable option to get to the park.

In Barcelona, they also have a good public bus service that you can use. Account, in total, with four options. The first two are lines H2 and 32. They will leave you at the Travessera de Dalt stop. You can have a 10 minutes walk from there to reach the park. You can access it through two different entrances if you stay at that stop.
Instead, there is route 24, which departs from the stop located in Plaza Catalunya. The stop where you should get off this bus is at the Carmel-Park Güell highway. Which will put you very close to one of the main entrances of the park.
Your last public bus option is route 92, which also runs along the front of the Sagrada Familia. If you take this bus, you must stay on the same road as route 24. Therefore, these last two are the closest to you.

In the city, you will find tourist bus routes, facilitating you with two options. The first is the Bus Turístic Bus. Whose transportation route you must take is the blue one. This will leave you right at the Park Güell stop.
Furthermore, the one responsible for the Barcelona City Tour also has a line that will take you to the park. In this case, the line color is green. It will also drop you at the same stop. From there, you just need to walk a little to get to the main entrance.

Reaching Park Güell by your own car is not recommended. However, the fastest route to reach Park Güell is Highway C-58, but still, it is discouraged to take your own car. The parking is always a hassle there. Since a large part of the surrounding of Park Güell is covered with green areas hence, parking space is limited there. Most of the parking space is utilized by the residents there. You need to pre-book parking space to ensure the empty space upon your arrival.
There are different parking lots nearby where you can park your car, but they charge by hours. Also, you need to walk up to 10 to 15 minutes from there to the main entrance.
If you want to use the highway to reach Park Guell, it is recommended to hire a taxi service- you may use Cabify for this purpose. Park Guell has two arrival stations one at Rambla de Mercedes and the other at Carretera del Carmel. Booking a taxi can be a wise decision, apart from the fact that you have to deal with traffic but it will let you escape from the hassle of strolling uphill. But do make sure that your taxi drops you at Carrera del Carmel entrance.
